Mark McLaughlan

Mark started playing in a local Pipe band as a drummer at the age of ten and was taught by George Rutherford and Gordon Rankin. He soon became the leading drummer of the Drum corps and was probably one of the youngest leading drummers for his age at that time. He played in Pipe band competitions and was also successful in solo Drumming competition. He then went on to play as leading drummer of Cambridgeshire Scottish Pipe band. He has thirty years playing experience and has taught for over twenty years                 

Mark then took up the Bagpipes when he was fifteen under the instruction of Pipe Major Tom O'Rourke and John Benson. He has twenty five years playing experience playing in Pipe bands, competing in solo competitions, Weddings, Funerals, Burns Nights, Special events, TV and radio and corporate events.

Mark Turned professional in 2007 playing and teaching Bagpipes. Mark is also a full time Drummer playing and teaching Snare drum and drum kit in Schools and privately at his purpose built teaching studio.

Because of his playing and teaching commitments Mark has had to leave the Pipe band scene and now concentrates on playing for solo engagements that he is booked to play at.
